How to Refresh Link Previews on LinkedIn and Facebook
When you share a website link on LinkedIn or Facebook, the preview may sometimes display an outdated title, description, image, or other information—even after the actual webpage has been updated.
This happens because social media platforms cache information from shared URLs to improve performance and reduce repeated requests to the original website. LinkedIn and Facebook may store the metadata they previously retrieved from a page, which means an updated webpage may not immediately appear in a new post.
If you have recently updated a webpage and want the social media preview to reflect the latest information, you can manually refresh the cached data.
Visit the LinkedIn Post Inspector:
LinkedIn Post InspectorEnter the webpage URL.
Click Inspect.
LinkedIn will retrieve the latest available information from the webpage and refresh its cached preview data.
Visit the Facebook Sharing Debugger:
Facebook Sharing DebuggerEnter the webpage URL.
Click Debug.
If necessary, use the available option to Scrape Again so Facebook retrieves the latest page information.
After refreshing the cached information, try sharing the same URL again. The preview should now reflect the updated title, description, and image from the webpage.
Tip: Make sure your webpage has the correct Open Graph metadata (og:title, og:description, and og:image) before refreshing the social media cache. These metadata tags determine much of the information displayed in link previews.
