There are cases where a working SIM card is inserted into an Android phone, but suddenly the device can no longer make or receive calls, although SMS still works. This may be caused by a feature called Advanced Protection in Android, which blocks 2G networks during calls.
To fix this:
- Go to Settings → Security & Privacy →
Advanced Protection - Turn Device Protection off
- If the phone is set up as a child account under Google Family Link, make sure to enable the same adjustment there as well.
*Tested on Google Pixel Phone.
